Courage To Resist is an organization that supports troops who refuse to fight. As you may or may not be aware of, any uniform faces court-martial, dismissal and sometimes even the brig for refusing to pick up arms while in the War. They are even forbidden to speak out against the war while in uniform or such punishments happen. Below is an article I decided to post for you as an example of just one of the soldiers who told their story. As you will notice in some articles they are from other organizations who work together with Courage To Resist who are Veterans of the War themselves. Many have returned home to tell the "real story" and speak out against what us anti-war people call the "Occupation of Iraq". Please go to www.couragetoresist.org. Rights That Have Been Violated
-22 August 07 - 23:03
In my personal opinion, these are the laws Bush and his regime have violated in the Constitution and Bill of Rights.
Amendment I
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free excercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of greivances.
Amendment IV
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

Bush Administration Does It Again, Breaks Another Deadline
-22 August 07 - 17:40
The Bush Administration does it again and breaks another deadline. This time it is on failure to issue two scientific reports on global warming which a federal judge had ordered.
U.S. District Court Judge Saundra Armstrong ruled Tuesday(Aug. 21) that the Bush Administration violated a 1990 law when it failed to meet deadlines for an updated U.S. climate change research plan and impact assessment. Judge Armstrong had set a May 1st deadline for the administration to issue the research plan and a May 31st deadline for the administration to issue a national assessment.

Congressman David Price Gets Asked About Impeachment
-22 August 07 - 15:38
According to an article of AfterDowningStreet.org, activists on Monday, August 20th demanded Impeachment of President Bush from Representative David Price from the 4th district of North Carolina. Price replied that he doesn't like the President's policies either but Impeachment is not his weapon of choice. Price also made a statement, "The question has never been how much worse things have to get. It's a tactical question of what's the best way to change things."
The activists claimed that Impeachment is the only way to hold the Bush Administration accountable for alleged "high crimes and misdemeanors", such as misrepresenting the reasons for the war, and spying on Americans.
The members of GRIM(Grassroots Impeachment Movement), who had a meeting with Representative Price that day, delivered a petition from 600 of Price's constituents calling for Impeachment. ... (more)

OpenLeft.com defines "Bush Dogs" as being the conservative Democrats to have voted for the supplemental surrender on May 24, 2007 and Bush's new wiretapping bill on August 4,2007 (which gives him much more power to do his wiretapping stunts legally for awhile.) Go to their site to get a list on the Democrats who voted for both of the Bush bills.
OpenLeft.com is inviting it's readers to write profiles on the "Bush Dogs". Once the profiles are written they can begin tracking these Congress members, engage in on-line advertising to let the Congress member's constituents know their record, and/or help activists in these Congress members districts.
Anti-War Activists Beware
-22 August 07 - 11:40
A new group called "Freedoms Watch" has gotten going. They are for the war and are trying to get Congress members to keep the war going. Their efforts start now until sometime in September by using $15 million on TV and radio advertisements and grassroots activities. All anti-war activists beware of this group, they obviously have lots of money, can use the media to promote their activities, though we are not allowed alot of media coverage on our anti-war views, at least we have the internet to spread the word and in turn those people can talk to other people and so on and anti-war activists also have grassroot movements going on in public all across the country. Be prepared for this group and be determined to raise your voice over theirs.
A New Petition To Try To Stop Bush's Wiretapping
-21 August 07 - 23:33
A new petition on Democrats.com about Bush's Illegal Wiretapping. Here is what it says:
Stop Bush's Warrantless Wiretapping
I am one of the 73% of Americans who oppose George Bush's warrantless wiretapping of American citizens in violation of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act of 1978 (FISA): http://www.democrats.com/wiretap-poll-1
I am outraged that George Bush admits he broke the FISA law at least 30 times by authorizing activities that were illegal.

Bush Making It More Difficult For Certain Children To Recieve Healthcare
-21 August 07 - 17:10
According to an article on the New York Times on-line newspaper, the Bush Administration has adopted new standards that would make it more difficult for New York, California and other states to extend health care coverage to children in middle income families. Administration officials claimed the changes aimed to return the Children's Health Insurance Program to it's original plan to help low incom children. Some state officials claim it could cripple efforts to cover more children by imposing standards that couldn't be met.

In My Own Opinion
-21 August 07 - 12:14
I, myself, want to make clear to people that if the President and certain members of his administration continue to use "executive priviledge", these investigations in the Senate that are happening cannot go much further, considering evidence in these cases and testimony from some of these individuals would be withheld, under the terms of "executive priviledge". Impeachment would certainly keep Bush from interfering, claiming executive priviledge, then Congress would better be able to do their job of protecting the Constitution and the people, getting the criminals out of the administration, passing more bills that are worthy to the American people without having to worry about yet ANOTHER veto from Bush. Congress would then be able to have more say in ending this war without threats from a criminalistic President.
The evidence is stacked against Bush, it is clearly there to see for those who are willing to look. Congress needs to grow a "set" and Impeach. ... (more)
Congressman Norman Dicks Gets Hassled By Constituents
-21 August 07 - 11:58
According to a recent video that someone posted on You Tube, Representative Norman Dicks was being hassled by his constituents in his home district of Washington state. Some of the answers he gave to the questions on Impeachment were the kinds of excuses we are used to hearing by now from members of Congress. One excuse, of course, was to elect a Democrat in 2008, another pertained to the trial going on right now with Gonzales in the U.S. Attorney firing case, the court system and the subpoenas that have been issued to Bush and certain members of the Administration. His thoughts are, if Bush and the Administration continue to delay in handing over documents and testifying, the courts will hopefully exercise their right and hold some in contempt and maybe some of this will lead to trials. He said they are not backing down on their oversight of the situation. The excuses for not Impeaching went on and on.
Congressman Sullivan Is Asked About Impeachment
-21 August 07 - 11:49
Two activists got into the Lions Club Town Hall meeting in Tulsa, OK on August 14th where Representative John Sullivan was speaking. Towards the end of it all, one of these activists had the opportunity to speak. When he finally rose to speak, the activist asked Rep. Sullivan, "Given that Bush continued a wiretapping, spy program that a Federal Judge had already found illegal, making him a criminal, shouldn't he be impeached?" Sullivan replied that he didn't know, that many times there are differing opinions on these things. But Sullivan also says that he knows he should, but he didn't pay attention to these things.
Later on during the Q&A session, the other activist replied to Sullivan, "In this late stage of the game, it's frankly inexcusable that you haven't devoted any attention to impeachment. You are responsible, as a member of Congress, for providing checks and balances." Sullivan walking away, said, "I'll look into it." In which one of the ... (more)

But Cheney's office shows indication that it may not turn these papers over without a fight.
The documents are dated from October 4, 2001 and December 2006. Cheney's office has been asking for more time on the subpoena request.

CIA, FBI Edits Wikipedia Entries
-21 August 07 - 00:58
According to an article written by Reuters on August 16th, people using CIA and FBI computers have edited entries in the on-line encyclopedia Wikipedia, from such topics pertaining to things like the Iraq War and Guantanamo, according to a tracing system. Which may violate Wikipedia's conflict-of-interest guidelines.
WikiScanner revealed CIA computers were used to edit an entry on the U.S. led invasion of Iraq in 2003 to do with a graphic on casualties. Another entry was edited on former CIA chief William Colby to expand his career history. Aerial and satellite images were removed by an FBI computer of the U.S. prison in Guantanamo.
Computers at numerous other organizations and companies had also been involved in editing articles related to them. This type of thing violates the Wikipedia neutrality guidelines as mentioned by someone to do with Wikipedia.
The "Orange Revolution"
-21 August 07 - 00:49
There has been an Orange Revolution going on for a few weeks now. All over this country. Fridays are usually the day to wear orange. Whether it be on your shoelaces, t-shirt, a bandanna, a hat, your socks, it doesn't matter to these people. Granted, I haven't bought anything with orange yet, but I am spreading the word at least. Orange, as you know, is the color the GITMO detainees wear. People have been using orange in alot of their protest demonstrations for sometime and now it is the official color for people to wear on Fridays that feel strongly on the issue of the war and the crimes that came with it. The Orange Revolution continues to grow among the people out there.

Attacking Iran, A Big Mistake
-20 August 07 - 10:55
For a long time now activists and bloggers have been discussing what would happen if Iran were attacked. I am going to give you my own opinion on the matter based on my research in the past.
Attacking Iran would be just like attacking Iraq and also our troops are already about stretched to the breaking point in Iraq and Afghanistan. We couldn't even afford to attack Iran, with the money we are now spending on the war in Iraq. We can't afford to attack Iran financially, politically, or militarily. Plus, Iran is not an immediate threat and has not attacked us, therefore it would be Constitutionally wrong to do so. The Iraq War was started based on lies and misinformation, do not let Iran be the exact same kind of thing.

The ANSWER Coalition is mobilizing political support and is filing a lawsuit against the DC government for this outrageous attempt to stifle the September demonstration. The group has said that it will not pay one penny for the exercise of its First Amendment rights.
Bush’s Interior Department is also threatening other large financial penalties against the group. The posters have been put up for earlier demonstrations. They conform to the government regulations and are completely legal. On August 15th, at an office meeting with 8 members of the Los Angeles National Impeachment Center(LANIC), a center that opened up a few weeks ago, Representative Adam Schiff of the 29th District of California stonewalled on the Impeachment issue. Outside of the meeting, other members and associates rallied with Impeachment signs and banners. The group collected over 3,500 handwritten signatures and addresses from Los Angeles citizens between July 7th to August 15th. A copy of these was given to the Congressman and there was much discussion about Impeachment to him by the members of LANIC.
One of LANIC's members, Peter Thottam, asked Schiff what he thought the obstacles were to passing H.R. 333 and how to get more Congress members on board. Consequences Of The Patriot Act

For years now since the Patriot Act was formed and signed into law, there has been much debate around this country as to what effects the Patriot Act has had on us American citizens and whether or not it takes away some of our rights as defined by the U.S. Constitution. The President and his people seem to think that it takes care of the security issues at hand better while still protecting some of our civil liberties, as even stated on the Whitehouse website of the President's. If you look into the provisions of the bill carefully and are well knowledged in the Constitution, you will see that the Patriot Act does infringe more on our civil liberties than the President and his administration would like you to believe. In October 2001 the Patriot Act was signed into law and recently was renewed in 2006. Back in 2001 the government was very quick to sign this into law, not much consideration was ... (more)

It has been over four years since President Bush deployed troops to Iraq. College Student Relief Act of 2007

U.S. Representative Ron Kind of the 3rd District of Wisconsin, my representative in fact, co-sponsored this bill along with about 211 others according to the GovTrack website. The original sponsor of the bill was Representative George Miller from California. According to a statement on Ron Kind's website, Ron Kind has worked with his colleagues to increase college access while reducing college costs. Congress is off this month and in their home districts so Democrats.com is paying $100 for each "no excuse" video of your Representative explaining why he or she has not co-sponsored H.R. 333. You must specifically tape him or her answering when asking, "What's your excuse for not co-sponsoring H.R. 333?" You aren't allowed to let them give you bad excuses, you have to go prepared with follow-up questions and demand serious answers. Then upload your video to You Tube and send Democrats.com the link at: http://democrats.com/contact
There are also many on-line petitions that can be filled out at Democrats.com. I have filled several out myself and just within the past six months or so. To go to their homepage on their website just go to www.democrats.com

Impeachment Schedule
-15 August 07 - 17:14
Anaheim, CA. rally for Impeachment on Saturday, August 25th at 10:30 a.m. On the corner of Harbor and Katella.
On September 15th thousands of Americans will gather in Washington, D.C. from all around the country. They will demand, once again, the Impeachment of George W. Bush and Dick Cheney and insist on an immediate end to the Iraq War. General Petraeus is scheduled to give his progress report to Congress that day on how Bush's troop surge is, or is not, working. In the past few weeks people have been taking out newspaper ads, producing leaflets, flyers, stickers and setting up outreach committees all across the country for this event. The organization, Impeach Bush, has been leading this movement for awhile. For more information go to their website at www.impeachbush.org

Censure Resolutions
-15 August 07 - 15:04
According to the Legal Information Institute (LII), a censure is defined as "a process of Congressional reprimand-the political equivalent of a strongly-worded letter". In 1834, Democratic President Andrew Jackson was "censured" in retaliation for his withholding documents. Three years later a Democratic Senate "expunged" the censure from the record. The act of censure had no basis in the Constitution or the Rules of the House and Senate. Which is still true today. Congressional disapproval of the President is done through veto override power or through Impeachment. Legally, a censure resolution would have no effect. Censure derives from formal condemnation by either the House or the Senate in rebuke of a Member of their own body, meaning it is usually done to a Senator or a Representative. What Price Will You Pay?
-15 August 07 - 14:42
Nearly 3700 U.S. Soldiers have been killed in this war, the economic costs of the war are said to now be approaching $500 billion. Yet Bush claims he will veto bills that provide too much money to children's health and many other programs, all the way up to worker protection programs, and block legislation that tries to address energy dependence, global warming, or absence of universal healthcare. Reference: by AfterDowningStreet.org and is also in many articles you may or may not have read.
As long as Bush and his administration are in power, Congress will not be able to do much in terms to do with the good of the people, but Bush has the money for his war. Alot of excuses I have heard Senators and Representatives give me about not Impeaching is that it would take too much time and they need to focus on getting more things passed in both houses to help with such issues. One other excuse is that Impeachment would continue to divide the country further. ... (more)

Better Healthcare For Wisconsin Residents
-15 August 07 - 11:27
Wisconsin is one of the most expensive places to buy health insurance in this country today. So, earlier this year, the Wisconsin State Senate approved funding for "Healthy Wisconsin". This proposal would provide all residents with the same healthcare benefits as state employees while preserving choice of doctors. By doing this, it would reduce healthcare costs for most families, businesses and taxpayers across the state of Wisconsin.
Contrary to the Wisconsin State Senate, the State Assemby has been refusing to approve funding Healthy Wisconsin. Both houses are now negotiating a budget compromise that all members can agree on. Wisconsin just may end up being the first state in this country to garauntee affordable coverage to all it's citizens, but the pressure must be put on our state representatives by the people of Wisconsin if we really are going to get them to act. Please let them know that you want "Healthy Wisconsin" fully funded. ... (more)
Introduction
-14 August 07 - 20:20
My name is Kim, as you already would have guessed. I was born and raised in Wisconsin. I have just reached the age of 32. My sincere hope in creating this blog is to be able to reach out to people and get to know others and hopefully share some experiences, as well as get some discussions going about events going on in the world of today. I am an activist in the world of politics. I hope, one day soon, to have a government again in this country that believes in defending the Constitution and putting our rights and us ahead of their own well being. Living in a certain section of Wisconsin, surrounded by small towns and plenty of countryside, people are not always well informed of what goes on out there in other parts of the country. Sure, we have the media, but the media does not always report the things we need to hear about. ... (more)
